The wine is pumped over the skins 3 times daily during fermentation to achieve excellent colour, fruit and body. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and experiences gentle French oak to add complexity. This wine is produced and bottled in South Africa.

Stellen Creek 2016 Shiraz

R 268.00

Grape Variety: 100% Shiraz          Vintage: 2016

Sugar Level: 4g/L                            Alcohol: 13.5%

Total Acidity: 5.5g/L             Maturation potential: 10 years

Vinification: Grapes for this Shiraz come from selected vineyard blocks in South Africa. Shiraz can handle a bit of heat, and this extra warmth helps to develop the full-bodied flavours. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, the fruit is gently pressed and only the free run juice is used. Using selected yeasts the juice then undergoes fermentation.  Because of the depth of flavour, our Shiraz requires less oak treatment compared to other grape varieties and matures on French oak to improve body and texture.

Tasting Notes: This Shiraz is soft and smooth, with spicy blackberry, blackcurrants, velvety tannins and an elegant finish. Perfect on its own or with friends, try this wine with red meat dishes (such as beef, lamb, or game), spicy food, tomato-based dishes, and long conversations with your friends.
